we celebrate the birthdays of George Washington (February 22, 1732) and Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809.)
.The greatest symbol of the U.S. presidency is the White House. It is also known as the People’s House.
It is the only private residence of a head of state that is open to the public, free of charge.
President Thomas Jefferson was the first to open the house for public tours, and it has remained open, except during wartime, ever since.
The White House — consisting of six levels, 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms and 28 fireplaces — receives approximately 6,000 visitors a day.
Though he helped choose the location for the residence, George Washington is the only president not to have lived in the White House.
